I hate to say it, but today was another beautiful day at the lake.  When we can drag ourselves out of bed, Bob and I like to go to the lake for an early morning workout.  I go kayaking and take pictures and he rides around on his mountain bike being chased by our energetic mutt, Gretchen.

And when I say drag ourselves out of bed, I mean early.  It’s hard getting out of bed, but somehow seeing the sunrise, makes it all worth it.

I know that sounds sort of sappy, but it’s true.  You get to the lake and the sun coming up.  It really makes it worthwhile.  We’re the only people (and dog) there and the quiet is just nice.

What’s funny is that I always take the camera.  You’d think I’d get tired of taking shots like these.

But I don’t.  It amazes me how the light changes in the early morning.  This one is just around the corner from the last one.

And of course there is the wild life.  This morning there were four blue herons flying about as I paddled.

It’s really a great way to start your day.  Try it one morning, you won’t be disappointed.  Unless it’s raining.  Then all bets are off.
